New York, NY (November 10, 2022) – Volta Inc. (NYSE: VLTA) (“Volta”), an industry-leading electric vehicle (“EV”) charging and media company, today announced its infrastructure planning platform, PredictEV®, received a special mention on TIME’s 2022 Best Inventions list

Volta's PredictEV is an advanced infrastructure planning solution that analyzes disparate data sources, including local mobility, demographic, commercial, and site-specific data, to provide high-resolution answers to key EV infrastructure questions around expected EV adoption, optimal charger locations, and the right mix of charging infrastructure.

PredictEV was used by Alabama's Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) to develop its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan, and its insights informed Volta's collaboration with the State of Michigan and DTE Energy. Electric utilities, including Southern Company, Southern California Edison, and Tucson Electric Power, also benefit from the tool’s predictive analytics.

Volta’s latest PredictEV feature offers state and local governments the ability to precisely identify optimal charger locations and charging speeds in disadvantaged communities. This analytical capability aligns with the federal government's Justice40 goal, which seeks to ensure that 40 percent of the overall benefits of certain federal investments, including the $7.5 billion allocated to EV charging infrastructure under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), flow to disadvantaged communities.

“An unprecedented amount of funding is flowing from the federal government to states and communities to directly facilitate EV charging infrastructure construction. The future health, safety, and economic security of all communities depends on these funds being spent wisely and equitably, and Volta’s PredictEV platform provides the data-driven planning insights needed to do so effectively,” said Brandt Hastings, Chief Commercial Officer at Volta. “We’re proud to see PredictEV recognized by TIME, and look forward to continuing to use this important tool to help commercial property owners, government agencies, cities, and electric utilities plan EV infrastructure intelligently, efficiently, and equitably to build a more sustainable future for all.”

Each year, TIME recognizes products, software, and services that are solving compelling problems in creative ways. To assemble its 2022 list, TIME solicited nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world, as well as through an online application process. The magazine then evaluated each contender on key factors, including originality, creativity, efficacy, ambition, and impact.
